Ingredients

2.25 oz.Gin
.5 oz.Dry Vermouth
.25 oz.Maraschino Liqueur
2 DashesOrange Bitters
RinseAbsinth
GarnishOrange Peel
GarnishBrandied Cherry

Directions

  • Rinse a Cocktail Glass or Coupe with Absinth and set aside
  • Combine the Ingredients in a Mixing Glass with Ice
  • Stir for 30 Seconds
  • Strain into the Absinth rinsed Glass
  • Garnish with an Orange Peel and Brandied Cherry

The Tuxedo No. 2 is a Martini variation and sequel to the Tuxedo, however, it is similar to the Turf Club. Like the original, it is also named after Tuxedo Park, an elite community in upstate New York. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.

  • Stir for 30 Seconds

The Tuxedo is a riff on the Martini and the precursor to the much more famous Tuxedo No. 2. It was probably invented at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York City and named after Tuxedo Park, an elite upstate community.

  • Combine the Ingredients Cocktail Shaker with Ice
  • Shake for 15 seconds
  • Strain into a Shot Glass

The Water Moccasin, or Cottonmouth, is a good tasting shooter. It gets its name from the venomous snake the Water Moccasin and Cottonmouth respectively. Like venom, these tasty shots can be dangerous as the alcohol sneaks up on you.

  • Combine the Ingredients in a Cocktail Shaker with Ice
  • Shake for 15 Seconds
  • Strain into a Shot Glass

The Broken Down Golf Cart is a sweet, easy to drink, low alcohol Shooter. The combination of Midori and Amaretto gives the shot a dirty green color that looks unappetizing, but looks can be deceiving.

1 TeaspoonDemerara Sugar (or White Sugar)
To TopHot Water
GarnishLemon Peel

Directions

  • Combine the Scotch and Sugar in a Mug
  • Top with Hot Water
  • Stir till Combined
  • Garnish with a Lemon Peel

The Whiskey Skin is a hot Whiskey drink, like the Hot Toddy, but specifically with Scotch. The “Skin” part of the name refers to the Lemon Peel used as a garnish.

2 oz.Blended Scotch
.75 oz.Lemon Juice
.75 oz.Honey Ginger Syrup
.25 oz.Single Malt Scotch
GarnishCandied Ginger

Directions

  • Combine the Blended Scotch, Lemon Juice and Syrup in a Cocktail Shaker with Ice
  • Shake for 15 Seconds
  • Double Strain into a Rocks Glass over Ice
  • Float the Single Malt Scotch over the Top
  • Garnish with a piece of Candied Ginger

The Penicillin is a Ginger riff on the Gold Rush. Like the Gold Rush, it was created in the 2000’s at the Milk & Honey bar in New York City. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.

Ingredients

1 PoundGinger Root
5 CupsWater
1 PoundWhite Sugar

Directions

  • Peel and Chop up the Ginger Root into small, bite sized Pieces
  • Combine the Ginger and Water in a medium Pot over medium-high Heat
  • Cover and let cook for 35 minutes
  • Pour out most of the the Water, leaving about .25 Cup
  • Add the Sugar and stir until the Sugar begins to Crystalize
  • Remove the Ginger from to Pot and set aside to cool

Candied Ginger is is sometimes found at old General Stores, but otherwise hard to find. It can be eaten by itself, but is used as a Garnish for the Penicillin Cocktail.

1 CupHoney
.33 CupWater
4 Inch PieceGinger Root
1 DashVodka (Optional)

Directions

  • Peel and Chop up the Ginger Root
  • Combine the Ginger, Honey and Water in a small Pot over medium Heat
  • Stir and bring to a Boil
  • Double Strain into a Glass Jar or Bottle
  • Add the Vodka and Shake till Combined

Honey Ginger Syrup is like Honey Syrup, except with Ginger. This ingredient is used in the Penicillin, but is also good in Tea. The Vodka is used to make the syrup more shelf stable.

To TopApple Cider
GarnishMint Sprig

Directions

  • Combine the Liquor and Bitters in a Collins Glass over Ice
  • Top with Apple Cider
  • Stir till Combined
  • Garnish with a Mint Sprig and Straw

The Stone Fence is a Fall Cocktail that combines Liquor and Cider. In North America, Cider normally refers to the non-alcoholic beverage, but everywhere else is implies alcohol. Use whatever version you like.

Directions

  • Combine the Ingredients (including the Orange Wheel) in a Cocktail Shaker with Ice
  • Shake for 15 Seconds
  • Double Strain into a Collins Glass over Cracked Ice
  • Garnish with an Orange Slice, Mint Sprig and Straw

The Sherry Cobbler is a Cocktail from the 1800’s. Cobblers are closely related to Juleps. There is not much more to say about this drink because it’s origins are unclear, but it is a pretty tasty drink.
