The Bee’s Knees was created in the 1920’s and is thought to have been created by Frank Meier at the Hôtel Ritz Paris in Paris, France. The drink is essentially a Gin Sour that substitutes the Simple Syrup for Honey Syrup. There are other similar drinks such as the Honeysuckle that substitutes the Gin for White Rum, and the Honey Bee that substitutes the Gin for Dark Rum. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.

  • Pour the Peach Purée in a Champagne Flute
  • Top with Prosecco
  • Stir till Combined
  • Garnish with a Peach Slice

The Bellini was created sometime after 1934 by Giuseppe Cipriani at Harry’s Bar in Venice, Italy. The drink is named after painter Giovanni Bellini, because the color of the drink reminded Cipriani of a part of one of his paintings. A Strawberry variant of this drink is a Rossini. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.

The Between the Sheets is a riff on the Sidecar. It is thought to have been invented in the 1930’s by Harry MacElhone at Harry’s New York Bar in Paris, France. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.

The Blinker is a riff on the Whiskey Sour that was created in the 1930’s. Its original incarnation was made with Grenadine. Later on, it was discovered that Raspberry Syrup created an overall tastier and better balanced drink.

The Blood Orange Martini, like many other drinks, is a “Martini” in name only. Blood Oranges are less tangy than other oranges and provide this drink with an interesting deep red color that would be hard to replicate in other ways. If Blood Oranges are out of season or hard to find where you’re from, other oranges could be substituted in. This would, however, change the overall look and taste of the drink.

If you wanted a drink that is more in line with a traditional Martini, here is an alternative recipe.

The Blue Hawaii, not to be confused with the Blue Hawaiian, is a drink invented in 1957 at the Kaiser Hawaiian Village in Honolulu, Hawaii by Harry Yee. The drink also shares a name with an Elvis Presley Film. Harry Yee also made a blended variant of the drink.

The Blue Hawaiian, not to be confused with the Blue Hawaii, is a blue riff on the Piña Colada. It is also known as the Swimming Pool because of its color. This drink can also be made Frozen.

The Bramble was created in the 1980’s by Dick Bradsell at Fred’s Club in London, England. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.

The name “Brass Monkey” has been used as the name for a couple different cocktails. This recipe is the most commonly accepted “Brass Monkey,” which is pretty much a Screwdriver with Dark Rum. Through the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s this was sold as a pre-mixed cocktail by the Heublin Company. This drink inspired the song of the same name by the Beastie Boys.

The Buck’s Fizz is a U.K. Christmas Cocktail that was created in 1921 by Malachy McGarry at the Buck’s Club in London, England. This drink is a predecessor to the Mimosa. A band of the same name won Eurovision in 1981.
