The White Russian was created in the 1960’s, when someone added Cream to a Black Russian. It gets its name from the Cream color and because Vodka is associated with Russia. The drink was heavily featured in the movie “The Big Labowski,” though it was called a “Caucasian” in the film.
The Black Russian was created in the 1940’s by Gustave Tops at the Hotel Metropole in Brussels, Belgium. It was supposedly created for American Ambassador Perle Mesta. It gets its name because the drink is a dark color, and Vodka is normally associated with Russia. This is a predecessor to the more famous White Russian. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.

The Bahama Mama is a vacation drink that is very in line with the Hurricane and Piña Colada. The drink has had its recipe tweaked over the years and nobody quite makes it the same way. The original contains Coffee Liqueur, but many recipes omit it. It adds a nice earthy taste to the drink, so I left it in.

The Espresso Martini is a “Martini” in name only. It was invented sometime in the 80’s. Dick Bradsell claims to have invented the drink at Fred’s Club in London, England. He says he made it for a young lady who asked for a cocktail that would “Wake me up, then fuck me up.” This is an Official IBA Cocktail.

The Irish Coffee’s origin is unclear, but is thought to have been created in Ireland in the 1940’s. It was made famous in the 1950’s after an American columnist, named Stanton Delphane had one in Ireland and asked Jack Koeppler, the owner of Buena Vista Café in San Francisco, California, to recreate it. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.
