I had a Starfruit and wanted to make a cocktail with it. As you could probably guess, there are not many out there. I did come across this one by Laura Lee on her website. It turned out to taste pretty good, so I’m posting it here. She named it after The Weeknd (Ft. Daft Punk) song “Starboy.”

Cement Mixer

Cement Mixer

Ingredients

.75 oz.Irish Cream
.75 oz.Lime Juice

Directions

  • Pour the Irish Cream and Lime Juice in 2 separate Shot Glasses
  • Pour the Irish Cream Shot in your mouth but DON’T SWALLOW
  • Follow with the Lime Juice but DON’T SWALLOW
  • Swish the Ingredients in your mouth until the Irish Cream begins to curdle
  • Swallow

The Cement Mixer is not meant to taste good. It is also not meant to get you drunk. It is just a means of torcher, or to show off how badass you are. It gets its name because the process of mixing it in your mouth and solidifying to Cream is kind of like mixing cement. The Lime Juice is sometimes layered on top of the Irish Cream, but that can cause problems as they react.

Grapefruit Shandy

Grapefruit Shandy

Ingredients

12 oz.Wheat Beer
2 oz.Grapefruit Juice
GarnishGrapefruit Slice

Directions

  • Combine Ingredients in a Beer Glass
  • Stir till Combined
  • Garnish with a Grapefruit Slice

The Grapefruit Shandy is a Shandy, except with Grapefruit Juice instead of Lemonade. It is the most popular Shandy riff. Some recipes call for Grapefruit Soda or try making a Grapefruit Ade with Simple Syrup and Water, but I find that to be completely unnecessary and overly sweet.

GarnishLemon Wheel

Directions

  • Combine the Ingredients in a Beer Glass
  • Stir till combined
  • Garnish with a Lemon Wheel

A Shandy, or Summer Shandy, is like a Beer Arnold Palmer. Although you can use any beer, Wheat Beer works best. You can also use whatever Lemonade you like, but the usual one is the carbonated version that is drank in Europe.
