The history of the Yellow Bird is quite unclear. Many think it was named after a Haitian song called Choucone, which was rewritten into English as “Yellow Bird.” There are a couple different variants of this drink. The IBA version that is a Sour, and a more tropical one. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.

.25 oz. Galliano
1.5 oz.Orange Juice
1 oz.Pineapple Juice

  • Combine the Rum, Galliano, Pineapple Juice, Lime Juice and Simple Syrup in a Cocktail Shaker with Ice
  • Shake for 15 Seconds
  • Double Strain into a Margarita Glass
  • Top with Prosecco

The Barracuda was invented in the 1950’s by Benito Cuppari whos was a Barkeeper on the Christoforo Colombo cruise ship and later the SS Michelangelo. It was named after a Beach Club his friend owned and unfortunately not the Heart song of the same name, as the drink predates it. It is rare that a none “Margarita” drink that is served in a Margarita Glass. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.

The Mary Pickford was created in the 1920’s in Havana, Cuba. The creator is up for debate. Some say Addie Woelke while others say Fred Kaufman. The drink is named after the actress, Mary Pickford, who may have been working on a film in Cuba at the time. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.

The Pearl Harbor has a name that is perhaps in bad taste, however, the drink itself has a good taste. The name probably comes from the fact that Pineapples, for the most part, come from Hawaii, and Midori is a Japanese liqueur.

1 oz.Malibu
2.5 oz.Orange Juice
1.5 oz.Pineapple Juice
.5 oz.Lime Juice

  • Combine the Alcohol and Fruit Juice in a Hurricane Glass over Ice
  • Stir till Combined
  • Top with Grenadine and let it float to the Bottom
  • Garnish with a Pineapple Wedge, Cocktail Cherry and Straw

The Bahama Mama is a vacation drink that is very in line with the Hurricane and Piña Colada. The drink has had its recipe tweaked over the years and nobody quite makes it the same way. The original contains Coffee Liqueur, but many recipes omit it. It adds a nice earthy taste to the drink, so I left it in.

2 oz.White Rum
.5 oz.Lime Juice
1.5 oz.Simple Syrup
.25 oz.Cream
1Banana
6Strawberries
GarnishLime Wedge

Directions

  • Combine the Lime Juice, Simple Syrup, 5 Strawberries and half of the Rum in a Blender with Ice
  • Blend till Combined
  • Pour into the Bottom Half of a Highball Glass
  • Stick it into the Freezer while you make the Top Half
  • After cleaning the blender, Combine the remaining ingredients in it with Ice
  • Blend till Combined
  • Pour into the Top Half of the Hurricane Glass
  • Garnish with a Strawberry, Lime Wedge and Straw (and a Cocktail Umbrella if available)

The Beach Towel is a delicious two layered blended Daiquiri. If you want an even more tropical drink, Coconut Rum in place of the White Rum would not be out of place in this Cocktail. The Cocktail is very similar in look to the Miami Vice and Lava Flow.

The Blue Hawaii, not to be confused with the Blue Hawaiian, is a drink invented in 1957 at the Kaiser Hawaiian Village in Honolulu, Hawaii by Harry Yee. The drink also shares a name with an Elvis Presley Film. Harry Yee also made a blended variant of the drink.

The Blue Hawaiian, not to be confused with the Blue Hawaii, is a blue riff on the Piña Colada. It is also known as the Swimming Pool because of its color. This drink can also be made Frozen.

The Mai Tai is one of the most popular Tiki Drinks. It is believed that Victor Bergeron (a.k.a. Trader Vic) invented the drink at Trader Vic’s in Oakland, California in the 1940’s.

  • Drizzle Chocolate Syrup on the inside of a Hurricane Glass
  • Pour the Blender Contents into the Hurricane Glass
  • Garnish with a Banana Slice and Straw

The Dirty Banana is a delicious and Chocolaty Dessert Cocktail that is popular in many Caribbean Resorts.
