1 oz.Dark Rum
1 ozGold Rum
2 oz.Orange Juice
2 oz.Pineapple Juice
.75 oz.Grenadine
2 DashesAngostura Bitters
GarnishOrange Slice

Directions

  • Combine the Ingredients in a Rocks Glass over Crushed Ice
  • Swizzle with a Swizzle Stick until combined
  • Garnish with an Orange Slice and Cocktail Cherry

The Rum Swizzle, or the Bermuda Rum Swizzle, is the national drink of Bermuda. It is thought to have been invented in the 1800’s at Swizzle Inn in Hamilton, Bermuda. Swizzle Inn is the oldest bar in Bermuda and is the birthplace of Swizzle cocktails.

Directions

  • Fill half a Collins Glass with Crushed Ice
  • Combine the Gin, Lime Juice and Simple Syrup in the Collins Glass
  • Swizzle with a Swizzle Stick till combined
  • Top with Crushed Ice
  • Float Angostura Bitters on top
  • Garnish with Blueberries and a Straw

Swizzles Cocktail is a Swizzle from Harry Craddock’s book from 1930 The Savory Cocktail Book. Though not very common, it is a tasty drink.

Queens Park Swizzle

Ingredients

2 oz.Demerara Rum
1 oz.Lime Juice
.75 oz.Simple Syrup
10Mint Leaves
4 DashesAngostura Bitter
GarnishMint Sprig

Directions

  • Combine the Mint Leaves and Simple Syrup in a Collins Glass
  • Muddle the Mint Leaves
  • Add the Rum, Lime Juice and 2 Dashes of Angostura Bitters to the Glass
  • Add Crushed Ice and Swizzle with a Swizzle Stick till combined
  • Top with more Crushed Ice
  • Garnish with 2 Dashes of Bitters over the top, a Mint Sprig and Straw.

The Queens Park Swizzle was invented at the Queens Park Hotel in Port of Spain, Trinidad in the early 1900’s. Another drink to come out of this Hotel was the Queens Park Super Cocktail.

  • Combine the Ingredients (including the Orange Wheel) in a Cocktail Shaker with Ice
  • Shake for 15 Seconds
  • Double Strain into a Collins Glass over Cracked Ice
  • Garnish with an Orange Slice, Mint Sprig and Straw

The Sherry Cobbler is a Cocktail from the 1800’s. Cobblers are closely related to Juleps. There is not much more to say about this drink because it’s origins are unclear, but it is a pretty tasty drink.

The London Mule is a Gin twist on the Moscow Mule. It is similar to the Gin-Gin Mule and it’s a more specified version of a Gin Buck. It gets its name from London Dry Gin.

  • Combine the Ginger Beer and Lime Juice in a Highball Glass over Ice
  • Float the Rum on Top
  • Garnish with a Lime Wheel and Straw

The Dark ‘n’ Stormy was invented a long time ago in an Island in the Atlantic Ocean. In a similar fashion to Pusser’s with the Painkiller, despite not inventing the Cocktail, Gosling’s trademarked the name Dark ‘n’ Stormy so that it has to be made with Gosling’s Rum. If you make it with a different Rum, it is not a Dark ‘n’ Stormy. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.

The Mexican Mule is a Tequila twist on the Moscow Mule. It gets its name from the association that Tequila has with Mexico.

The Gin-Gin Mule is a Minty twist on the London Mule. The drink was invented by Audrey Saunders at her bar, the Pegu Club, in New York City.

The Whiskey Smash is a Julep that is very similar to the Mint Julep. It is thought to have been invented sometime in the 1800’s, but may have been created even earlier in the 1700’s.

The Kentucky Mule is a Bourbon twist on the Moscow Mule. It gets its name from the association that Bourbon has with Kentucky.
