Ingredients

2 oz.Gin
1 oz.Lemon Juice
.5 oz.Simple Syrup
1Egg Yolk
To TopSoda Water
GarnishLemon Twist
GarnishMint Sprig

Directions

  • Combine the Gin, Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup and Egg Yolk in a Cocktail Shaker
  • Dry Shake vigorously for 30 Seconds
  • Add Ice to the Shaker
  • Wet Shake for 15 Seconds
  • Double Strain into a Collins Glass
  • Top with Soda Water
  • Garnish with a Lemon Twist and Mint Sprig

The Golden Fizz, like the Silver Fizz and Royal Fizz, is a variation of the Gin Fizz. The Gin Fizz contains no Egg, while the Golden Fizz has an Egg Yolk, the Silver Fizz has Egg White and the Royal Fizz has both.

The Greyhound is a drink from the early 1900’s. It was originally made with Gin, but when Greyhound Bus Terminals started serving them, they used Vodka, and eventually that became more popular. A popular riff on this drink is the Salty Dog, made with as Salted Rim.

The naming of the John Collins and Tom Collins can be confusing. The John Collins used to be the name of the Gin variation, but was changed because of the use of Old Tom Gin. The name John Collins has recently been used to refer to the Whiskey variation.

The John Daly is an Arnold Palmer spiked with Vodka. It is named after the famous golfer of the same name, who was a notorious alcoholic at the time. The cocktail was invented in 2005 by Daton Lewis at the Whiskey Creek Golf Corse in Florida. In response this John Daly himself decided to start his own beverage company called GIASI in 2010.

The Knickerbockers origins are a mystery. It used to be assumed that it was invented at the Knickerbocker Hotel in New York City, but the drink first appeared in the mid 1800’s, and the hotel was build in 1906. In the 1800’s, the term “Knickerbocker” meant a New Yorker with Dutch ancestry, so it is still assumed that the drink was invented in New York.

The Long Island Iced Tea is a dangerous drink that contains a whole slew of different Alcohols. It’s easy to drink despite being very boozy. It got its name because it looks like an Iced Tea and is from Long Island. Which “Long Island” is up for debate, however. Some claim it was invented by Robert “Rosebud” Butt in 1972 at the Oak Beach Inn in Long Island, New York, while others claim it was invented in the 1920’s by “Old Man Bishop” in Long Island, Tennessee. The Midori Illusion was invented sometime within the 80’s and 90’s timeframe. Its original purpose was to be used for shooters, so if you want some green shots for St. Patty’s Day or something, this is not a bad idea.

The Paloma is a Mexican cocktail thought to have been invented in the 1950’s. Despite being originally made with Grapefruit Soda, more and more people have started using Grapefruit Juice and Soda Water. Fever-Tree makes a perfect Grapefruit Soda for this drink. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.
