Chocolate Martini

Ingredients

1 oz.Vodka
1 oz.Chocolate Liqueur
1 oz.Crème de Cacao
.5 oz.Cream
Rim Cocoa Powder (or Chocolate Syrup)

Directions

  • Rim a Cocktail Glass with Cocoa Powder or Chocolate Syrup
  • Combine the Ingredients in a Cocktail Shaker with Ice
  • Shake for 15 seconds
  • Strain into the Rimmed Cocktail Glass

There are many recipes for the Chocolate Martini out there, but I like this one. This isn’t an actual “Martini,” like the French Martini, it is just a name.

.5 oz.Galliano
.5 oz.Hot Espresso
.5 oz.Cream

Directions

  • Pour the Galliano in a Shot Glass
  • Layer Espresso on top
  • Layer Cream on top of the Espresso

The Hot Shot is one of the rare shots made hot, hence the name. It is a novelty shot straight out of the 90’s.

1 oz.Dark Rum
.75 oz.Coffee Liqueur
.75 oz.Simple Syrup
.5 oz.Cream
1Egg Yolk
GarnishGrated Nutmeg

  • Combine the Ingredients Cocktail Shaker
  • Dry Shake vigorously for 30 Seconds
  • Add Ice to the Shaker
  • Wet Shake for 15 Seconds
  • Strain into a Cocktail Glass or Coupe
  • Garnish with Grated Nutmeg

The Café con Leche Flip, or “Coffee with milk” in English, is an alcoholic riff on a latté. The cocktail was invented by Sam Ross. The drink isn’t a traditional flip, as it contains dairy and only uses Egg Yolk instead of the whole Egg.

The Screaming Orgasm is, like the Sex on the Beach and Blow Job, is another crudely named Cocktail from the 1980’s. The thought behind the name is perhaps the drink is so creamy and delicious that it’ll make you have a screaming orgasm.

The Coffee Alexander, like the Blue Alexander, is a riff on the Brandy Alexander. It trades the Dark Creme de Cacao for Coffee Liqueur, but ultimately tastes pretty similar.

The Mudslide was invented in the 1970’s at the Wreck Bar in the Cayman Islands. This dessert Cocktail was originally made as a riff on the White Russian. For something more sweet and creamy you can make a blended version with Ice Cream.

1 oz.Irish Cream
3 ScoopsVanilla Ice Cream
GarnishChocolate Syrup
GarnishChocolate Shavings

  • Combine the Ingredients in a Blender
  • Blend till Combined
  • Drizzle Chocolate Syrup on the inside of a Cocktail Glass or Coupe
  • Pour the Blender Contents into the Glass
  • Garnish with Chocolate Shavings

The Blue Alexander is a riff on the Brandy Alexander, but blue and less chocolatey. It substitutes the Crème de Cacao for Blue Curaçao, which makes a cool looking cocktail that tastes kind of orange. It doesn’t taste near as good as the other Alexanders, but looks fun.

The Brandy Alexander is the more popular offshoot of the Classic Alexander. All it does is substitute Gin for Brandy. The IBA even uses a Brandy Alexander as their Alexander recipe. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.

The Alexander was created in the early 1900’s. There were actually two different drinks at the time with the same name, but this recipe won out and stood the test of time. There are a couple different variations of the drink, including the Coffee Alexander and the Blue Alexander, but there are none more famous than the Brandy Alexander. The IBA even call their Brandy Alexander just Alexander.

2 oz.Gold Rum (or Dark/Spiced Rum)
2 TablespoonsBrown Sugar
1 DashVanilla Extract
1 PinchGround Cinnamon
1 PinchGround Nutmeg
1 PinchGround Allspice
1 TablespoonUnsalted Butter
To TopHot Water (or Cider)
GarnishCinnamon Stick
GarnishClove (Optional)

Directions

  • Combine the Sugar, Spices, Vanilla Extract, Butter and Rum in a Mug
  • Pour in the Water
  • Stir until the Butter Melts
  • Garnish with the Clove and Cinnamon Stick

Hot Buttered Rum is an old Cocktail from Colonial America. It was once thought to be a Health Drink, but now it is a Fall/Winter Dessert Drink. Above is the more traditional and easy to make version, while below is a more decadent version made with a Batter.

2 oz.Gold Rum (or Dark/Spiced Rum)
1 TablespoonHot Buttered Rum Batter
To TopHot Water (or Cider)
GarnishCinnamon Stick
GarnishGrated Nutmeg

Directions

  • Combine Rum and Batter in a Mug
  • Pour in the Water
  • Stir till Combined
  • Garnish with the Cinnamon Stick and Nutmeg
