Homemade Falernum

Ingredients
.5 Cup | Light Rum |
.25 Cup | Raw Almonds |
.25 Inch | Ginger Root (Optional) |
30 | Cloves |
4 oz. | Lime Juice |
.75 Cup | White Sugar |
.5 Cup | Water |
Directions
- Skin the Ginger Root
- Slice the Ginger Root and Almonds
- Roast the Ginger and Almonds in the Oven at 400°F for 5 Minutes
- Combine the Clove, Almonds and Rum in a Glass Jar and let it Steep for 2 Days
- Add the Lime Zest and Ginger to the Jar
- Shake to mix it up and then let Steep for 1 more Day
- Strain the Liquid out of the mixture into a separate Glass Jar or Bottle
- Combine the Lime Juice, Sugar and Water in a Pot over medium heat
- Bring to a boil while stirring
- Combine the 2 Mixtures and then shake to Combine
Falernum is a Tiki Syrup that is used in a fair amount of Tropical Drinks including the Zombie and Test Pilot. It can sometimes be found in stores, but if you can’t, that is what this recipe is for.
