Sazerac

Ingredients
| 1.25 oz. | Rye Whiskey |
| 1.25 oz. | Cognac (Brandy) |
| 3 Dashes | Peychaud’s Bitters |
| 2 Dashes | Angostura Bitters |
| To Rinse | Absinthe |
| 1 | Sugar Cube |
| .5 oz. | Cold Water |
| Garnish | Lemon Peel |
Directions
- Rinse a Rocks Glass with Absinthe and set aside
- In a separate Rocks Glass (or Mixing Glass) Muddle the Sugar Cube with the Water and Bitters
- Combine the Liquor in the Glass with the Sugar and add Ice
- Stir for 30 Seconds
- Strain into the Absinthe Rinsed Glass
- Express the Oils from the Lemon Peel over the Top and then Garnish with the Peel
The Sazerac is a Cocktail that is closely associated with New Orleans and similar to the Old Fashioned. For whatever reason it is usually made using two Rocks Glasses, but using a Mixing Glass is considerably easier. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.
