Mint Julep

Ingredients

2 oz.Bourbon
.25 oz.Simple Syrup
(or Powdered Sugar and Water)
8Mint Leaves
2 DashesAromatic Bitters
GarnishMint Sprig

Directions

  • Combine the Mint Leaves and Simple Syrup in a Silver Cup
  • Muddle the Mint Leaves
  • Add the Bourbon and Ice
  • Stir till combined
  • Top with a dome of Crushed Ice
  • Garnish with the Bitters, a Mint Sprig and Straw

The Mint Julep originated in the 1700’s in the southern United States. Originally it was used as a medicine. Eventually, in 1900’s, the drink became synonymous with the Kentucky Derby. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.
